KYOH Health Coaches

KYOH health coaches are trained and qualified to support people to take positive steps to improve their wellbeing and quality of life alongside their medical care.

Health coaches know that managing a health condition isn’t always easy or straightforward and support people, as they find out what works best for them, with a focus on their levels of confidence to manage and on what's important to the individual. Health coaches are provided to listen to, guide and support people.

KYOH services adhere to the Quality Institute of Self Management Education and Training quality standard (www.qismet.org.uk) and NHS best practice in managing peoples' health information and data protection.

KYOH coaches are trained and assessed against a set of core skills and competencies and are based upon a number of national programmes that have been rigorously evaluated in the NHS. Most coaches already have previous experience in counselling and life coaching and all KYOH coaches receive training and ongoing supervision and assessment.

Health coaches DO:

  • Help people set and reach realistic and achievable goals
  • Help people identify any challenges they're facing and why they present a challenge
  • Help people work out the easiest ways to overcome these challenges (what works for one person may not be what works for everyone)

Health Coaches DO NOT:

  • Provide any form of treatments or clinical services
  • Tell people what to do
  • Judge people's progress
  • Provide advice on treatment, diagnosis or information specific to their health condition

KYOH provide all the key components for the successful implementation of self-management support, including face-to-face health coaching, a comprehensive online coaching platform and all the training and supervision needed to establish a high quality supported self-management service.
